THE PLOT

CHARACTER ANALYSIS

The character of Elodie is one of the film’s strongest aspects. Far from being a traditional damsel in distress, she is portrayed as resourceful, intelligent, and determined. Elodie doesn’t wait for a hero to save her, instead, she takes matters into her own hands, using her cunning and bravery to outsmart both her enemies and the perilous situations she faces. Millie Bobby Brown gives a standout performance, balancing vulnerability and strength in her portrayal of Elodie. As the story progresses, Elodie evolves from a naive princess into a fierce, empowered woman who can hold her own in the face of danger. This character arc is both inspiring and refreshing, as it breaks away from the typical tropes of female characters in similar genres, showcasing a heroine who is not only physically capable but also mentally sharp.

PERSONAL OPINION

As for my personal opinion, I found Damsel to be an enjoyable film, though not without its flaws. The storyline kept me intrigued throughout, and the visual effects were particularly impressive, especially in scenes involving the dragon and other fantastical creatures. However, I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was an exceptional film. It is certainly interesting, but there were moments where Elodie had not just strength but kind of super-hero strength. So, it felt like it was very fake sometimes. Despite this, the movie has a strong enough premise and an engaging lead performance to make it worth watching. The action sequences and special effects, especially the dragon scenes, were visually stunning and added an exciting layer to the narrative.

Overall, I would recommend Damsel to anyone looking for an entertaining film to watch in their free time. It’s a fun, fantasy-adventure movie with a strong protagonist and plenty of action to keep you hooked. While it may not be a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece, it offers a solid viewing experience, especially for fans of the fantasy genre. If you’re in the mood for a thrilling adventure with a fierce female lead, Damsel is certainly worth a watch.
