Good evening once again to all my fellow K-drama fans!

Today, we’re going to talk about a great K-drama that I recently watched and that is none other than Idol I. So, let’s dive straight into the plot!

Idol I is a series that centers around Maeng Se-Na, a highly prominent lawyer. However, she is mostly known in a negative light, as she takes on heavy, controversial cases that face intense public backlash—something she has to experience and deal with firsthand.

On the flip side, we see that Maeng Se-Na is a massive fangirl of a superstar K-pop idol named Dolaik —or Doraik, Doraik… I think it’s Dolaik. Anyway, moving on!

So, our lawyer here is a huge fan of this singer, who is incredibly famous in Korea and she has harbored feelings for him since they were very young. Of course, it’s not entirely clear whether these feelings are limited to pure idol admiration, or if she actually has genuine romantic feelings for him.

In fact, as the story unfolds, we see that our female lead is deeply conflicted about this exact thing, whether she truly loves him or if she was just a girl admiring him as a fan.

Things take a wild turn, however, when Dolaik becomes the prime suspect in the murder of one of his fellow bandmates from his group, Gold Boys. He ends up as the main suspect because the murder takes place right inside his own home.

He has absolutely no one by his side. He can’t resolve the situation financially—like hiring a top lawyer—because no one believes in his innocence. On top of that, his own agency basically turns its back on him.

So, he is left all alone in prison. But then, we see that the only person who decides to stand by him, completely ignoring the risks and even wrestling with her own doubts about whether he is truly innocent or not, is Maeng Se-Na. As a true, loyal fan, she steps up to defend him.

Another crucial part of the plot, obviously, is uncovering who the real killer is. Later on, there is another attempted murder carried out by the exact same killer, making the whole situation even more complicated, as eyes are once again turned directly toward Dolaik.

So, it’s incredibly interesting! It has tons of mystery, a great romantic element and it really touches on themes of justice, survival and so much more.

It’s also fascinating to see how everything will unfold in the end: Will the couple end up together or not? Will he develop feelings for her too? Will she ultimately continue to admire him, or now that she has actually met him—and under the dark cloud of him being a murder suspect— will she remain so sure of his innocence?

And of course, a huge question that arises amidst all this chaos is what will happen if Dolaik finds out that this woman has been, for years, one of his biggest, most loyal and dedicated fans. How will he react? Will he see it in a positive light, or will he feel uneasy seeing it as a piece of information that Maeng Se-Na hid from him?

Now, let’s talk about the ending. Personally, I absolutely loved the ending. I found it incredibly touching. If you ask me, I feel like it wrapped up all the loose ends. It didn’t leave any gaps in the story. I didn’t have a single unanswered question by the time the credits rolled.

As for whether I recommend it or not? It’s a solid yes. It was a truly powerful story!

I absolutely loved it, and I’m so glad I watched it. Overall, I really appreciated the element I mentioned at the very beginning: the way it takes a harsh, realistic look at the lives of celebrities and the struggles they face. It also captures the whole fan culture— which, let’s be honest, can often become incredibly pressuring, suffocating, and even obsessive.

I loved the dynamic between the lawyer and this K-pop idol, especially since we all know just how massive K-pop fanbases are worldwide. So, this element is presented beautifully: for our female lead, it was her ultimate dream to actually meet him and be by his side. And in the end, this huge dream—which she obviously thought would never come true— actually became a reality!!!

So yes, definitely give it a watch! I enjoyed it immensely. That’s all for today!!
