A potential wonderful series

My dearest readers,

I am back with an other article about a special movie…”The Tearsmith”. For those who haven’t watched the movie or read the book, it is about two heartbroken teenagers, Nika and Rigel.

Nika, (name that symbolizes a butterfly, as they said in the movie) is an orphan girl who lost her parents in a car accident at a very young age. She was forced to spend many years of her childhood in a cruel orphanage, so cruel that they called it ”The Grave”. In the Grave, she met Rigel, a boy that never met his parents. Rigel fell in love with her instantly and without her knowing it, he always protected her. In the oprhanage they had to endure a psychopath headmistress. This cruel woman enjoyed torturing the poor children every single day of their lives, except Rigel. She never tortured him but she made him believe that he is a very bad person and he was capable of causing great harm. On the other hand, Nika was the kid that had the hardest time in the orphanage. The headmistress hated her the most and that came with the heaviest of price for the young Nika, because she was tortured the most! But, of course, Rigel always looked out for her and no matter how much the headmistress seemed to love him, he always hated her for what Nika had to endure because of her.

Many years passed by and Rigel never allowed anyone to adopt him because he didn’t want to loose Nika. One day, when Nika was about 16 years old, a couple adopted her and Rigel as well. We clearly see Rigel having a hard time staying away from her but his feelings for her kept getting stronger. Nika, not knowing that he was in love with her, found herself extremely confused with his behavior towards her. Months pass by and they realised that they can’t be apart but that changes when a toxic classmate of Nika who was obsessed with her, tried to kill them and Rigel ended up in a coma. Nika, knowing that she had to fight for Rigel, starts a trial against the psychopath headmistress that tortured them for years in ”The Grave”. The trial took a long time and the orphans weren’t able to defend themselves because they had no proof that the headmistress tortured them. Eventually, the Truth was revealed and Nika finally is free from the past darkness. Rigel regains his conscience and we watch them years after, being happy together with a sweet daughter…and they lived happily ever after!

Well, I have watched the movie twice because the plot and the soundtrack is epic but unfortunately I have to say that it doesn’t do the trick as a movie. This book covers a long period of time. We talk about many years! So, it felt really forced in a movie.

I firmly believe that it should have been a series and it would be truly captivating! This movie lets out many years and important facts that we only see very briefly. Such as the years in ”the Grave”, Nika’s and Rigel’s interactions in the orphanage, the endless storylines from the other orphans that would create a more unique and commited atmosphere to the plot. The main couple’s story after the trial, the headmistress’s life before ”the Grave” and after the trial, inside the prison e.t.c. I believe that someday, we might see this great story in the making of a great series, at least I would really love to, because it has so much potential and a very powerful storyline!
